Gut microbes should regulate our bodies by naturally producing hormones that make us feel hungry and want to eat the foods we need, and that make us feel full and satisfied, so we stop eating.

These hormones are very powerful and difficult to override, which is why so many diets fail.

Modern food is energy-dense and hygienic but lacks critical nutrients—and, most importantly, the microbes that make these hormones.

We need those beneficial microbes—so how do we get them?

We developed a growing medium called Wickimix, where beneficial microbes breed, enter plants, and then your gut when you eat them.

This is very different from buying a probiotic from the local chemist. Microbes have a very short life, typically a half-life of about a day. This means you need to grow, pick and eat the plants yourself.

Our job is to make this process as easy as possible for everyone.

But making this special soil, which we call Wickimix, is not trivial.

Our challenge is to make this technology available globally so that anyone can benefit.

We plan to license local growers to produce Wickimix for their communities. We’ll set up an e-commerce platform so each grower can sell locally. We’ll support these growers and handle international marketing for a commission.

We hope interested people will help us find local growers.

This is our long-term plan. In the meantime, we are making this technology available on a limited basis while we continue to expand access and support.

He was later selected by the Institution of Engineers as one of Australia’s Top 100 Innovators.
