WickiMix is a biologically active soil regeneration system designed to convert waste organic material into living, fertile soil. It works by combining diverse soil biology with essential minerals to support plant growth, soil structure, and long-term fertility. Used correctly, WickiMix helps recycle food scraps and weeds, improves seed establishment, and supports healthy root development. The system is supplied as two complementary components, WickiMix-R and WickiMix-M, each with a specific role.

What Is WickiMix?

WickiMix is a living soil amendment developed to accelerate the transformation of organic waste into stable, productive soil. It is designed to work with natural soil processes rather than relying on chemical inputs. The system is based on the interaction between plant roots, soil biology, fungi, and minerals, which together form the foundation of healthy soil.

WickiMix is particularly effective in wicking beds, wicking boxes, and other biologically active growing systems where moisture levels are kept relatively stable. It can also be used in broader regenerative soil applications where organic material is being recycled back into food production.

WickiMix-R: Root-Derived Soil Biology

WickiMix-R contains both micro and macro soil biology extracted from the roots of selected plants. These plants are chosen because they form strong, synergistic relationships with soil organisms, including beneficial bacteria and fungi.

The primary role of WickiMix-R is to convert waste organic material, such as food scraps and weeds, into living soil.
Rather than allowing organic matter to simply rot or decompose rapidly, WickiMix-R supports a biological process that builds soil structure and stability.

WickiMix-R has a fibrous, clumpy texture. Because of this structure, it must be placed below the soil surface and covered with a finer material to allow successful seed propagation. It is not intended to be used as a surface layer on its own.

WickiMix-M: Minerals and Trace Elements

WickiMix-M is formulated to supply minerals and trace minerals required for plant health and human nutrition. These minerals support plant metabolism, soil biology, and the long-term productivity of the growing system.

Unlike WickiMix-R, WickiMix-M has a fine texture. This makes it suitable for seed propagation and surface application. It is primarily used as a covering layer placed over WickiMix-R, creating an ideal environment for seeds to germinate and roots to establish.

Using WickiMix as a System

WickiMix is most effective when used as a combined system. WickiMix-R provides the biological engine that breaks down organic material and builds soil life, while WickiMix-M supplies the minerals needed to support growth.

A common approach is to place WickiMix-R below the surface, add organic waste material, and then cover the area with WickiMix-M. This layered structure mirrors natural soil systems, where biology, minerals, and organic matter work together.

Availability and Handling

WickiMix-R is a growing, living entity. Because of this, it takes several months to produce. Availability can vary, so it is important to check availability before placing an order.

Current availability is limited, with batches typically produced in 50 kg quantities. WickiMix-R must be buried and seeded soon after receipt, so please ensure you are ready to use it when it arrives.

To ensure quality during transport, WickiMix-R is partially dried before postage. Once extracted and prepared, it is posted on the following Monday to avoid delays over the weekend.
